The Urban Search and Rescue (USAR): First Responder course is designed to equip emergency responders with the foundational skills and knowledge required to effectively perform search and rescue operations in urban environments following disasters such as earthquakes, building collapses, and other structural emergencies. This course focuses on the initial response phase, emphasizing safety, rapid assessment, and basic rescue techniques to save lives in the critical first hours after an incident. Participants will engage in a combination of theoretical instruction, hands-on exercises, and scenario-based simulations to develop practical competencies.
